The new Commercial Register Law and Trade Names Law took effect on 3 April 2025. They simplify registration, but they add an obligation many businesses overlook.
The main changes
- No expiry date: the commercial registration (CR) no longer expires, so there is no renewal.
- Annual confirmation: instead, you must confirm your CR data every year. Missing it can bring penalties and suspend services.
- Unified number: the CR number becomes your business's unified number, starting with 7.
- One CR for the whole Kingdom: you no longer register by city, and branch (subsidiary) registers are cancelled.
- Grace period: existing branch registers have five years to adjust their status.
What to do
- 1Note your annual confirmation date in your company calendar.
- 2Check that the data on your CR — activities, address, managers — is up to date.
- 3Review your branch registers and plan the move to a single register.
- 4Make sure your trade name complies with the new Trade Names Law before any change.
We can follow up your CR and your annual confirmations as part of our administrative support.
