What is the zakat threshold?<\/b><\/h4>\n

The zakat threshold is the amount that, if the money reaches it, zakat becomes obligatory, provided that a full year has passed, based on the hadith of the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace: <\/span>\u201cThere is no zakat on money until a year has passed.\u201d<\/span><\/i> (Narrated by Abu Dawood and Al-Bayhaqi)<\/span><\/p>\n

The zakat threshold varies according to the type of money, whether it is cash, gold and silver jewelry, livestock, or agricultural crops.<\/span><\/p>\n

How to calculate the zakat quorum<\/b><\/h4>\n

The zakat quorum is equivalent to a quarter of a tenth of the money (2.5%), provided that a full Hijri year has passed. The quorum is determined based on the value of 85 grams of pure gold or 595 grams of silver. <\/span><\/p>\n

Zakat on money<\/b><\/h4>\n

  • The minimum amount of money that must be paid for zakat on money is the minimum amount of money that has been in the possession for a full year without any decrease.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • The value of the money must be equivalent to 85 grams of pure gold or 595 grams of silver.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Zakat on gold<\/b><\/h4>\n
      \n
    • The nisab for gold is 85 grams of pure gold (24 karat).<\/span><\/li>\n
    • To calculate the nisab in local currency, the weight of the gold is multiplied by the price of a gram of pure gold. <\/span><\/li>\n
    • If the gold is of lower carats such as 21 or 18, only the pure gold is calculated using the equation: <\/span>
      \n<\/span>(Number of grams \u00d7 carat) \u00f7 24 = net weight<\/b><\/li>\n
    • If the yield is 85 grams or more, zakat is due at a rate of 2.5%. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Silver zakat quorum<\/b><\/h4>\n

      • The nisab of silver is 595 grams of pure silver.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • The nisab is calculated in local currency by multiplying 595 grams by the current price per gram.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Zakat on livestock (camels, sheep, cows) <\/b><\/h4>\n
          \n
        1. Zakat on camels:<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
            \n
          • 5 to 9 camels \u2192 1 sheep.<\/span><\/li>\n
          • From 10 to 14 \u2192 Chatan.<\/span><\/li>\n
          • 15 to 19 \u2192 Three sheep.<\/span><\/li>\n
          • 20 to 24 \u2192 Four sheep.<\/span><\/li>\n
          • When 25 camels reach \u2192 Bint Makhad (a female who has completed one full year).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            1. Zakat on sheep:<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                \n
              • The minimum number of sheep is 40, and one sheep is required. <\/span><\/li>\n
              • Zakat increases gradually as the number increases.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                  \n
                1. Zakat on cows:<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                    \n
                  • When you have 30 cows \u2192 sell (male or female who have completed one year).<\/span><\/li>\n
                  • When owning 40 cows \u2192 old (female completed 2 years).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                    Zakat on grains and fruits<\/b><\/h4>\n
                      \n
                    • Zakat is obligatory on grains and fruits that are measured and stored.<\/span><\/li>\n
                    • The nisab is five wasqs, which is equivalent to 300 prophetic sa\u2019s. <\/span><\/li>\n
                    • A Saa is approximately equivalent to 2.04 kilograms, and thus the nisab for grains and fruits becomes approximately 612 kilograms. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                      Amount of Zakat:<\/b><\/p>\n

                        \n
                      • 10% if irrigation is natural (with rainwater).<\/span><\/li>\n
                      • 5% if irrigation is by machines and costs.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                        How to pay zakat<\/b><\/h4>\n
                          \n
                        1. Determine the type and amount of money.<\/b><\/li>\n
                        2. Ensure that the money reaches the minimum amount and that a full Hijri year has passed.<\/b><\/li>\n
                        3. Calculate 2.5% of the money in the case of cash, gold and silver.<\/b><\/li>\n
                        4. Follow the specified proportions for livestock, grains and fruits.<\/b><\/li>\n
                        5. Paying zakat to deserving groups such as the poor, the needy, debtors, and others mentioned by God Almighty in the Holy Qur\u2019an.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
